Veteran linebacker Wynton McManis re-signs with Toronto Argonauts

 


The Toronto Argonauts will use Wynton McManis to help them defend their Grey Cup championship.


Less than an hour after the CFL's free-agent window began, the seasoned linebacker re-signed with the team on Sunday. On February 11, McManis was scheduled to become a free agent.


Details of the contract were not disclosed.

In 2024, the six-foot-one, 225-pound McManis made 12 appearances during the regular season. In addition to 57 tackles, he recorded three special-teams tackles, one sack, two fumble recoveries, and an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

 In Toronto's East Division semifinal victory over Ottawa, McManis recorded a team playoff record-tying 10 tackles. He finished the season with six tackles and an interception in the Argos' 41-24 Grey Cup victory over Winnipeg.


Before the 2022 season, McManis signed a contract with Toronto. In 42 regular-season games, he has recorded 224 tackles, 11 special-teams tackles, eight sacks, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and three touchdowns.


In 2022 and 2024, he also assisted Toronto in winning two Grey Cups. McManis played in the NFL for New Orleans (2020–21) and Miami (2021) before starting his CFL career with the Calgary Stampeders (2017–19).

Drew Wolitarsky, a national receiver, joins the Hamilton Tiger-Cats

On Sunday, Drew Wolitarsky, a national receiver, was signed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released Wolitarsky last week, making him a free agent.

In his ten 2024 regular-season appearances with Winnipeg, 29-year-old Wolitarsky caught 33 passes for 403 yards and a touchdown. The six-foot-one, 225-pound receiver had 227 receptions for 2,954 yards and 18 touchdowns throughout his seven seasons with the Bombers (2017–19, 2021–24).

B.C. Lions sign veteran American defensive lineman Hendrix to two-year deal

The B.C. Lions signed American defensive lineman DeWayne Hendrix to a two-year contract Sunday.

Hendrix was a free agent after being released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last week.

The six-foot-four, 275-pound Hendrix had 17 tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble in 16 regular-season games with Hamilton last year. He began his CFL career with Toronto (2021-23) and recorded 65 tackles, eight sacks and one forced fumble with the Argos, helping the team win the Grey Cup in 2022.
