Basketball Journalist claims Mitch Marner has been traded to Utah HC
Â
A Reporter from New York says The Maple Leafs are about to trade. Mitch Marner.
On Monday afternoon, Rob Reinhart of The Bleacher Report posted on social media that the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Utah Hockey Club were in talks over Marner's potential trade to the NHL's newest team. When he announced that Marner's stay in Toronto is ended, he also placed his name on the line.

Although the final terms of the deal have not been disclosed, it’s been confirmed that Marner’s time in Toronto is over.

Since none of the traditional NHL Insiders, such as Elliotte Friedman, Chris Johnston, Kevin Weekes, and Frank Seravalli, seem to be reporting anything on the subject, the reporter appears to be receiving a lot of backlash on Twitter and X. However, Seravalli did publicly reaffirm on Monday that Marner would not receive an extension from the Leafs.

Of course, it's too soon to tell for sure if this is real or if it's simply another rumor from a sketchy source. Reinhart's standing as a reporter will undoubtedly improve if it turns out to be accurate. If not, farming engagements like that give him a terrible reputation and could be quite detrimental.
Marner led the Maple Leafs in 2023–24 with 26 goals and 85 points in just 69 games.
