Mavs lose to Cavs by 43 in 1st game after Luka trade

The Cavaliers easily defeated Dallas 144-101 on Sunday, just hours after the Mavericks dealt star Luka Doncic to the Lakers for Anthony Davis. Evan Mobley scored 22 points as Cleveland set a team record with 91 points in the first half.

Darius Garland helped the Cavaliers to 40-9, the best record in the league, with 17 points and 10 assists.

Cleveland set a franchise record with 26 3-pointers, and Sam Merrill made nine of them.

In an attempt to make it back to the Finals, the Mavericks traded Davis, one of the league's best two-way players, to Los Angeles for Doncic, a 25-year-old who was the face of their team and a five-time All-Star.

All-Star guard Kyrie Irving, who has played with LeBron James, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Doncic, will join Davis in Dallas. Irving has a wealth of experience playing with other superstars.

Sadly, Irving's injury prevented him from playing, and the Cavaliers dominated the Mavericks right away. Cleveland led by 45 points at the half after scoring a franchise-high 50 points in the first quarter.

They tied for the third-highest first-half total in league history with 91 points.

Dallas was led by Jaden Hardy, who scored 21 points.
