LeBron James Unfollows 3 Stars on Social Media

Superstar forward LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is already making significant personnel changes, even before the 2024 NBA summer officially begins.

This is due to the fact that the 20-time All-NBA veteran has unfollowed three NBA players or former players on X. According to NBA Alerts, James unfollowed three-time All-Star Brooklyn Nets point guard Ben Simmons (who will most likely never be an All-Star again, as he's been plagued by shooting woes and injuries for several years and now has one of the worst contracts in the league), former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate and NBA center-turned-ESPN talking head Kendrick Perkins, and former L.A. Clippers/Detroit Pistons center/power forward Blake Griffin.

Just before the Boston Celtics—with whom Perkins won a championship in 2008 as a member of the starting five—and Irving's Dallas Mavericks played the first game of the NBA Finals, Perkins took a harsh stance against James for expressing how much he missed playing with the star point guard.

Thus, despite being a little petty, James' choice to fire Perkins makes at least some sense. It's more of a mystery why Griffin and Simmons were treated unfairly. Maybe James believes that Griffin and Simmons are not deserving of his time on X because he is retiring and has a limited number of followers that he wants to share? To be fair, this is all pure conjecture.
