Capitals agree to buy website' CapFriendly.

Although it won't happen until July, a number of sources claim that the Washington Capitals have an agreement in place to buy the exceptional CapFriendly website.

It is anticipated that the sale will not become official until at least July 5, as these same sources emphasized that both the Caps and CapFriendly wanted the website to be open to the public and run independently through the 2024 NHL Draft and the beginning of free agency.

Representatives from CapFriendly and the team declined to comment. The co-owner and director of the website, Dominik Zrim, has experience playing in the NHL for both Chicago and San Jose.

NHL teams that had contracts with them for the usage of their tools or Application Programming Interface (API) were notified lately that their agreements would expire. Due to the fact that all the evidence pointed to the Capitals, there was conjecture that one team was purchasing the website.

It makes perfect sense why a team would desire this setup. The website will go down when the deal closes formally.

Following the closure of its predecessor, CapGeek, CapFriendly launched in 2015. In March 2015, Matthew Wuest, the man of the vital website CapGeek, passed away from colon cancer. CapFriendly developed into a great stand-in for journalists and fans.
