On July 24, 2025, the Carolina Hurricanes signed forward Jackson Blake to an eight-year, $45 million contract. The deal, carrying an average annual value (AAV) of $5.625 million, will begin in the 2026–27 NHL season.
Blake, who turns 22 on August 3, had a solid rookie campaign in 2024–25, notching 34 points (17 goals, 17 assists) across 80 regular-season games, followed by six points in 15 playoff games. He's currently entering the final year of his entry-level contract, which he signed on April 10, 2024, and would have become a restricted free agent next summer.
Carolina GM Eric Tulsky praised Blake's rookie season and highlighted his "tenaciousness on the puck" and "competitiveness" as reasons for investing long-term in the young forward. Blake was originally selected 109th overall (4th round) in the 2021 NHL Draft by the Hurricanes.
This extension locks in one of Carolina’s promising young players before he hits restricted free agency, giving the team potential long-term value if Blake continues to develop.
