Trade Rumor: Canadians Are Intending to trade for Necas

Even though the NHL playoffs are still in progress, trade rumors are already beginning to circulate. The Montreal Canadiens may be in line to speak with the Carolina Hurricanes regarding Martin Necas, according to a story published today by MHN's Marco D'Amico.

Necas's father has been expressing his desire for a trade. By the way, the Hurricanes have not announced that they will move him.

“A source close to the situation has confirmed that the Montreal Canadiens have checked in on Necas’ availability and that he would be high on their shortlist of players to acquire this summer,” D’Amico wrote.

Necas finished the regular season with 24 goals and 53 points in 77 games, and he added four goals and nine points in 11 postseason games for Carolina.

In addition, D'Amico said that if the Winnipeg Jets decide to trade Nikolaj Ehlers, the Habs would be interested in him.

If the Canadians do decide to go after Necas it would align with their prior trade history, Acquiring youngish players that haven't quite hit their potential yet, players like Alex Newhook, Kirby Dach, and Denis Gurianov
