Corey Perry plays mind games with Vancouver and trolls Brock Boeser

The Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers second-round series was not expected to be boring, but thus far, it has delivered more entertainment both on and off the court than anyone could have predicted.

The rivalry between the two Pacific Division teams reached a fever pitch on Sunday night after Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy unintentionally but dangerously crossed the line and hit Oilers captain Connor McDavid in the face. Soucy was suspended for one game.

With the Canucks trailing the Oilers on Tuesday night and Soucy observing from the press box, Corey Perry made the decision to have some fun of his own.

As the two teams were engaged in a scrum after a whistle, Perry held his stick up at face level to Canucks forward Brock Boeser, in an apparent reference to the Soucy cross-check, to prevent him from getting in on the action.

Boeser did net one later on to even the score, but ultimately it was the Oilers who had the last laugh as Evan Bouchard scored the game-winner with just over 30 seconds remaining.

A whistle sounded, and the two teams got into a scrum. To keep Canucks forward Brock Boeser from joining in, Perry raised his stick up at face level, seemingly alluding to the Soucy cross-check.

Even though Boeser eventually tied the score with a goal of his own, the Oilers finally emerged victorious when Evan Bouchard scored the game-winning goal with little over 30 seconds left.
