Caitlin Clark Named WNBA Rookie of the Month
Â
The WNBA announced today that Caitlin Clark, a guard for the Indiana Fever, earned the May Rookie of the Month. In the history of the team, Clark is the third player to win Rookie of the Month after Natalie Achonwa (June 2015) and Aliyah Boston (May, June, and August 2023) in the past.
Clark led all 2024 rookies in scoring (17.6 ppg), field goals made (46), 3-point field goals made (24), free throws made (42), assists (6.6 apg), and minutes played (33.0 mpg) through the first month of regular season action. Clark and Diana Taurasi tied for the lead among all players in the WNBA in May in terms of made 3-pointers, assists (59), and free throws made.
After recording more than 100 points, 30 rebounds, and 30 assists in her first six professional games, Clark joined Candace Parker and Sabrina Ionescu as the third player in WNBA history to accomplish this feat.
The 27th time a Fever player scored more over 30 points in a regular season game occurred on May 28th, when Clark had his first 30-point game against the Los Angeles Sparks. Tamika Catchings had the most points scored by a rookie Fever player in their debut game, with Clark's 20 points in the regular season opener on May 14 versus Connecticut ranking second.
In May, Clark contributed five assists or more in eight consecutive games; as of right now, her run stands at ten games with at least five assists.
The Fever play on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Washington Mystics. The game on Friday will be on ION.
