As they look to the future, the Boston Bruins are letting go of prospective free agent Trent Frederic.
Prior to the trade deadline, the Bruins revealed on Tuesday that they had traded Frederic to the Edmonton Oilers, along with forward Max Jones and undrafted draft pick Petr Hauser.
The New Jersey Devils will purchase forward Shane LaChance from the Oilers in order to complete the transaction and keep 50% of Frederic's salary.

In exchange, Boston will receive a 2025 St. Louis Blues second-round pick (via Edmonton), a 2026 Oilers fourth-round pick, and AHL defenseman Max Wanner.Despite having a $2.3 million cap charge on his deal that is about to expire, he has played his entire career for the Bruins.
The 27-year-old depth center Frederic has previously had offensive outbursts. He has thrown 155 hits, eight goals, and 15 points in 57 games this season. He scored a career-high 18 goals the previous season. Due to a lower-body ailment, Frederic is now out of the lineup but should be back in the latter part of the season.
