Vegas Golden Knights Sign Forward Brandon Saad to One-Year Contract

Vegas Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon announced today, January 31, that the team has signed forward Brandon Saad to a one-year contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 NHL season worth an average annual value of $1,500,000.
Saad, 32, who has played in 906 NHL games over his career, most recently signing a free agent contract with the St. Louis Blues before the 2021–22 season. The forward, who participated in all 82 Blues games and scored 26 goals last season, has amassed 515 points (260 G, 255 A) and a +37 rating over 13 seasons while playing in St. Louis, Colorado, Columbus, and Chicago. Saad has skated in more than 70 games nine times in his career and has scored at least 20 goals in seven of those seasons. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native has been in third place among all skaters born in the United States in terms of games played during the regular season since his rookie season with the Blackhawks in 2012–13. He also has 260 goals, which puts him in 10th place.
During his seven seasons with the Blackhawks, Saad won the Stanley Cup twice (in 2013 and 2015), adding a plethora of extra postseason experience. The 6-1 forward has participated in 103 Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring 55 points (27 G, 28 A) and earning a +17 rating. Saad scored eight goals during Chicago's 2015 Cup run, which was the third-highest total for his team.
Saad was selected by Chicago in the second round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft (43rd overall). The forward participated in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program for a year and the Ontario Hockey League for two seasons with the Saginaw Spirit before becoming pro.
