Rangers claim F Kaliyev off waivers from Kings
Â
The New York Rangers claimed forward Arthur Kaliyev from the Los Angeles Kings on Monday.
Kaliyev, 23, is on a one-year $825,000 deal he signed in September and is scheduled to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
Due to a broken collarbone sustained during training camp, the 6-foot-2 winger did not play for the Kings this season. In five games with the Ontario Reign of the AHL, he has two points and one goal.
Despite missing the playoffs, Kaliyev finished the previous season with 51 games played for the Kings, scoring seven goals and 15 points.
Throughout the 2023–24 season, the Staten Island, New York, native was mentioned in trade rumors after repeatedly being a healthy scratch.
Kaliyev, who was selected by the Kings with the 33rd overall pick in 2019, has 188 career games with 35 goals and 71 points.
Kaliyev led his nation to a gold medal in 2021 and competed for the United States twice at the World Juniors.Â
