Red Wings' Ville Husso, Canadiens' Alex Barre-Boulet placed on waivers

 


Goalie Ville Husso of the Detroit Red Wings has been placed on waivers, as reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet on Sunday.

This past Thursday, in a 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Husso was yanked at 5:28 into the second period after giving up four goals on 14 shots.



A three-year, $14.25 million contract that the 29-year-old Helsinki, Finland native signed with the Red Wings in July 2022, not long after being acquired from the St. Louis Blues, is currently in its last season.


Husso played for the Blues and Red Wings for five years, finishing with a career record of 69-41-16, 3.03 goals against average, and a.902 save percentage in 133 games.

Concurrently, the Montreal Canadiens declared that they have placed forward Alex Barre-Boulet on waivers in order to facilitate his loan to the American Hockey League's Laval Rocket.

In his two Canadiens appearances this season, Barre-Boulet has racked up two penalty minutes and a minus-2 rating.



On July 1, the 27-year-old from Montmagny, Quebec, inked a $775,000 one-year contract with Montreal. During his 36 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning past season, he scored six goals and totaled nine points.
