The Maple Leafs' decision about William Nylander will be made during the game on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. ET; TVAS, SN, BSW) against the Los Angeles Kings.
"We will see how the day goes for him," coach Craig Berube said. "I think there is improvement, so hopefully he is better later and ready to play."
The forward practiced on Monday but was absent from practice on Tuesday due to illness. On Saturday, he scored two goals in 20:52 in a 4-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Swedish forward has suited up in all three of Toronto's games this season and has two goals.
Due to illness, forward John Tavares missed practice on Monday and did not play against the Penguins. He is expected to make a comeback and center a line with right wing Nicholas Robertson and left wing Pontus Holmberg.
