William Nylander leaves pre-season game from head injury caused by teammate Robertson

After colliding head-first into the leg of Montreal defenseman Christian Dvorak during the opening period of the Toronto Maple Leafs' preseason game against the Canadiens on Thursday, William Nylander departed the game.

Nylander stumbled after teammate Nick Robertson of the Maple Leafs tried to shove him off. Nylander's head looked to make contact with Dvorak's leg during the fall, and he headed straight to the locker room for assessment.

Nylander would not play for the remainder of the game, the Leafs stated, citing precautionary measures.

For the second consecutive year, Nylander had started the preseason in the center position. Prior to the event, he was sharing that duty on a line with Bobby McMann and Robertson.

In his preseason debut, Nylander scored a goal and provided an assist in the Ottawa Senators' 6-5 overtime loss on Sunday.
