The Vegas Golden Knights Story: Sacrificing the Future for a Stanley Cup

In most cases trading draft picks and young players as new expansion team does play well. It seems that the Golden Vegas Knights are the out liar. They Bet on them selves and the house lost.

The Knights came into the league in 2017, and they made the playoffs six of its first seven NHL seasons, including winning the Cup in 2023. It's wonderful four the fans and great for the the city of sin, but what about ten years from now. What about their future? Will they still be able to compete or will they be stuck in no mans land. Let's have some fun and look at what could of been the future of this franchise if they never made a trade.

Does Nick Suzuki ring a bell. You know the Montreal Canadiens captain and first line center? Well he was actually the golden Knights first draft pick. Selected 13th overall in the first round and later traded to the Canadians in 2018 for forward Max Pacioretty. Who ended up being a good top six player for the Knights but only for two years due to injuries.

Picked up in that same 2017 draft were Center Cody Glass and defenseman Erik Brainstorm. Glass has been surgery from serious migraines but has been serviceable as a bottom six forward for Nashville Predators. Erik brannstrom on the only hand has been slowly developing into a top four offensive defense man.

Back in 2019 Vegas drafted shifty playmaker Peyton Krebs with their 17th first round draft pick. He was then shipped off with Alex Tuch in the 2021 blockbuster trade for Jack Eichiel with Buffalo Sabres.

More recent young players vegas has traded away.
