Jake Guentzel, Lightning agree to terms on contract
Â
It seems that the Jake Guentzel sweepstakes is now officially over.
Only hours after the Carolina Hurricanes surrendered the scoring winger's rights, Sportsnet can confirm that the Tampa Bay Lightning and the player have reached an agreement on a deal.
We do not yet know the exact parameters of the agreement.Â
Sources say #GoBolts have agreed to terms on a contract with Jake Guentzel after a productive Sunday.

Details have been hard to come by as Tampa has other moving parts, and info might not come out until tomorrow.
During the 2024 trade deadline, the 29-year-old Guentzel was acquired by the Hurricanes from the Pittsburgh Penguins. With the team, he participated in 17 regular-season games and scored 25 points and eight goals. He added four goals and nine points in 11 playoff games.
When it became apparent that Guentzel would not re-sign with the team, the Hurricanes traded away the forward's rights late on Sunday morning. In exchange, the Hurricanes obtained a third-round pick in 2025.
Part of eight seasons were spent by the two-time 40-goal scorer with the Penguins, where he won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017. In the 2013 NHL Draft, Pittsburgh chose him in the third round.Â
