Don Cherry gives big praise to Florida Goaltender
Renowned Canadian hockey analyst Don Cherry has commented on the Edmonton Oilers' Game 1 loss to the Florida Panthers, blaming Sergei Brobrovsky, the other team's goalie, for his team's superior play.
“That was his greatest game,” 90-year-old Cherry said of the 35-year-old goalie who goes by one name, Bob.
“That’s the definition of stealing a hockey game. And the old story, I’ve told you many times, show me a good goalie and I’ll show you a good coach… I can’t believe they (Florida) looked that bad.”
Cherry said the time off killed the Panthers, made them lose their edge.
On Game 2, there’s nothing that that the Edmonton coach can say to his team because the Oilers outshot the opposition, Cherry said. “But I would have a few words for the Florida club. I would say, ‘You guys stupid?'”
Florida managed just eight Grade A shots against Bobrovsky, compared to 16 from Edmonton.
Cherry claimed that the Panthers' competitive edge was lost due to the time off.
Cherry stated that Florida will be prepared for the next game and attributed their lack of edge on the lengthy break.
