NHL's Utah team narrows down potential names to 20

 

Owner of the NHL Utah, Ryan Smith, released a survey on Wednesday with 20 possible team names.

As the team moves forward with renaming the former Arizona Coyotes, fans will have the opportunity to cast one vote and select up to four possibilities. Voting for the first round is ongoing through May 22.

The survey's 20 names are listed below:

• Blast
• Blizzard
• Canyons
• Caribou
• Freeze
• Frost
• Fury
• Glaciers
• HC
• Hive
• Ice
• Mammoth
• Mountaineers
• Outlaws
• Powder
• Squall
• Swarm
• Venom
• Yeti

Smith stated that during the team's first season, "Utah" will be displayed across the front of the jerseys. The 2025–2026 NHL campaign will feature the selected branding.
On April 18, the NHL board of governors gave its approval to the Coyotes' sale and move to Salt Lake City.
