Blackhawks re-sign forward Lukas Reichel to a 2-year contract

Lukas Reichel, a forward, has signed a two-year contract extension with the Chicago Blackhawks.
On Tuesday, the team made the announcement. It has a $1.2 million cap hit and is valid until the 2025–2026 season.
Reichel struggled with consistency for a large portion of the season, which disappointed the Blackhawks, who were looking for a breakthrough performance from him. Reichel, who will turn 22 on May 17, ended up with 65 games played, five goals, and eleven assists.
Chicago's efforts to advance its rebuilding endeavour are hampered by Reichel's continued development. This season, the Blackhawks went 23-53-6, setting a franchise record for defeats.
As Reichel gets ready to represent Germany in the approaching world championships in Czechia, the deal offers him some security.
Chicago chose the 6-foot Reichel with the 17th overall choice in the 2020 draft. In 99 NHL games, he has 20 assists and 12 goals.
