"Trade Marner": Leafs fans outraged after disappointing Game 4 loss
Â
The Toronto Maple Leafs' 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins in Game 4 of their first-round series last night has not gone over well with the team's supporters.
The Bruins now have a dominating 3-1 series lead and might eliminate the Leafs as early as Tuesday night, so the setback put their club in a precarious situation. They would lose to the Boston Bruins in the opening round of the playoffs for the seventh time in the previous eight seasons, bringing their record of consecutive playoff losses to 65 years.
While every playoff defeat is undesirable, this one was especially so. In the second period, William Nylander, Mitch Marner, and Auston Matthews got into a brawl on the bench, with Nylander even appearing to have some strong words for his teammates.
Despite Marner's brilliant play into the middle of the ice to finally score the team's lone goal in the third period, the Leafs faithful were uneasy.
Even if the Leafs still have a chance to win the series, a lot of supporters are already anticipating the offseason and their ambitious goals for the team. Thoughts are varied, they usually centre on two main ideas: selling Marner and sacking head coach Sheldon Keefe.
