Penguins' Sidney Crosby ties insane Wayne Gretzky Record!

With a three-point effort in a victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, Pittsburgh Penguins star centre Sidney Crosby tied Wayne Gretzky's NHL record for the most point-per-game seasons, averaging a point per game for 19 straight campaigns.

Crosby is on track to score 90 points for the eighth time with 82 points in 74 games.

From his debut season in 2005–06 until the current 2023–24 campaign, Crosby has consistently scored points per game. Whenever he is on the ice, he scores, even in seasons when he has missed time due to injuries.

The final season of his 20-year NHL career, 1998–99, saw Gretzky score 62 points in 70 games, the only one below a point per game in his career.

“Obviously (that record is) something I didn’t want to talk about. I knew it was getting closer,” Crosby said via The Athletic’s Rob Rossi.
